bright yellow...thing and...but anyway
dear friends:
I realized I can't count & have been giving the wrong amount of days left. there are officially 35 days left. no, really. there are. 35 days. fah real. etc...
so far, so good. here's a person by person take on the historic plus ones mini summit to discuss our contribution to guitarded. for the confused, we are made up of the consorts of mig aka cog aka the occasional recipients of drink tickets aka oft-listeners of the phrase "how was it? what did you think?". we are doing b's ode to underage bus stop dawdlers, "catholic schoolgirls rock".

"The five of us, with our super ideas, instruments, iPods, wine, banana chips, impressive harmonizing skillz, and kickass group dynamic accomplished loads and are thrilled to lay down our phat beats in the studio. The following three quotes sum it up: "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine." - Spicoli, "Fast Times", "If I have any more fun today I don't think I can take it!" - Franklin, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.", "Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe...This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite." - Patrick, "American Psycho"

"19 things I learned last night. 1. as I foresaw, mary is punctual. 3. I am now not the only person I know who's read stephen fry. 4. test the microwaved food before shoveling a forkload of frozen rice noodle into your mouth, you incredible moron. 5. cheez got into school & will soon be a penniless smartypants who will be welcome to longcomings for vegetarian dining whenever his sugar momma doesn't wanna cook. 6. because I was in my own home & could not be late, as I foresaw, jenny was the last one to arrive. 7. judging men's fetishes for catholic schoolgirls & faux lesbians is unfair. 8. I fondle most women I know but not jenny. huh. 9. trying to explain my mom's insano credo that when you want a job well done hire a mexican makes people uncomfortable. 10. unless you're steph, then you smile cryptically but maybe she knows something I don't know (see below). 11. showing that they are already in sync, jenny & mary tried to get out of lead vocal duties by sneakily pointing to each other unaware that they were both doing the same thing. 12. steph & I will be florence ballard & mary wilson & urge you to stop in the name of safety. all harmonies & wah's & fingersnaps. 13. cheez is on fire when discussing song structure! from now on he shall be known as grilled cheez. 14. jenny has a thing for spanish lyrics, should be remembered when it comes time for a certain unnamed band to record another birthday song. ahem. 15. cheez may torture tina by crooning his velvety falsetto part to her endlessly when they are alone.* 16. jenny needs her own sitcom. it is set in the 80's & she is the eternally sunny yet grounded tour manager for several rock acts. rotating bands/music genres, great theme song, etc... coming soon to a thursday line-up on nbc. 17. I would like to read some more about maine. 18. catholic schoolgirls may actually be in the previously unknown key of bryan. 19. as per the maxim, by the time we are 7, we are who we are. "
* have already received a caustic "thank you" from tina. snicker, snicker.

"Jenny P revealed her deep fascination (and possibly fetish) for Mexicans with her persistence in including Spanish lyrics in the cover song. And yes, I know Mexicans aren't the only ones who speak Spanish. But its Jenny, and we all know about Jenny and the Mexicans."

"the +1s cover of "catholic schoolgirls rock" is going to rock, even if only two of us were actually catholic schoolgirls. we have crafted a blueprint that involves fingersnaps, bassy intro, high harmonies, la-la-las, doo-doo-doos, and perhaps even some whoa-whoa-whoas. phil is practicing his superstar falsetto for the big finish. jenny piston has volunteered to tackle the drumkit. our plan is to keep the music tracks simple and add color and energy with energetic, trading-off vocals in the finest girl-group tradition. there is going to be an a cappella breakdown, even, that may have been the most genius idea to come from our meeting. we still need to figure out a way/time to get into flood to use the drums, and we should also check with j. for suggestions on recording with the 4-track. will it work to record music separately from singing, or will we have to do it live-style, all at once? etc."
cheeze -
"what?!? are you kidding me? I'm at work, I have to do grad school stuff, I'm busy!!!"*
* I actually didn't get a report from cheez so I'm just guessing here.
until I have further news...
